Overview The Supertec series of CNC cylindrical grinding machines have been designed for ease of use yet are one of the most powerful machines in their class. These machines offer solutions to satisfy a variety of users' needs, everything from applications in the tool room to highly automated production environments. Current models are available in three between center capacities, three center heights, and a choice of straight wheelhead or angular slide head. The machine comes with either a Fanuc 0-GC control, or the new Supertec PC based conversational control with its easy to understand, easy to program, shop floor language.
Heavily ribbed box-type base is made of Meehanite castings, providing excellent rigidity to ensure machine stability. Optimal distance between guideways offers excellent table support to increase Z axis positioning accuracy and repeatability.
The sturdy rigid-designed workhead equipped with 8pcs precision angular contact ball bearings is electronically controlled giving variable spindle speeds. Workhead swivels 90 deg. counterclockwise to 30 deg. clockwise for various grinding operations. Combination live and dead-type spindle allows for quick changeover from center to chuck operation or vice versa.
The design of the tailstock is both rigid and robust. Housed in a cast body, the hardened nitralloy steel sleeve is designed to carry a MT4 center for G32/G38 and a MT3 center for G20P. Movement of the sleeve is adjusted by a knob to give a light or heavy load. Optional hydraulic tailstock with foot pedal is available for easy loading and unloading of parts.
Rigid table with box-type structure travels on a cushion of oil with no metal-to-metal contact. Lubrication system operates continously to ensure smooth movement and consistent accuracy. Z-axis positioning accuracy and repeatability is assured with an AC servo motor and high precision, pre-tensioned ballscrews. A swiveling table dial indicator enables rapid cylindricity corrections and taper grinding applications. Table is fully supported in the full travel to avoid overhang.
